A study in chinese Medical Botanical List by X-ray Diffraction Method


Abstract
An Analysis on the Chinese Botanical List by X-ray Diffraction Method (Centering Around Glauberite, Mirabilite and Epsomite)
We have analyzed Glauberite, Mirabilite and Epsomite of medicine minerals of a Chinese Botanical List by X-ray diffraction method. In the experimentation, we have used X-ray diffractmeter(Rigaku Model GEIGERFLEX D/max rA) as a machinery and tools, and an experimental conditions are as follows ;
Cu-K¥á, Graphite Single crystal ([0002], 2d=6.708A¡Æ) Divergence slit 1¡Æ, Scatter slit ¨ö¡Æ, receiving slit 0.3, monochromater receiving slit 0.45, goniometer radius 185 §®, Voltage 30 §Ç, current 15 §Ì, Full scale range 2000 cps, time constant lsec, Scanning speed 4/min, chart speed 40 §®/min, Detector ; scintilation counter.
The study is to report the analyed results and the main results are as follows;
1. Glauberite Na_2Ca(SO_4)_2 of a Chinese Botanical List was Gypusm CaSO_4, 2H_2O.
2. Milabilite Na_2SO_4, 10H_2O was examined as Potassium Nitrate KNO_3.
3. Epsomite MgSO_4, 7H_2O was examined as Sodium Sulfate Na_2SO_4.
From above results, authors know that medicine minerals of a Botanical List are not coincided with medicine minerals which are collected in a street Chon ju of Korea, and in case of Sodium Sulfate, Epsomite in a street are coincided with Sodium Sulfate. The scientific name of Epsomite is in error and minerals which are using as medicine mineral are inconect and hence we will have to use minerals by correct and thorough analysis.
